Join Helena Golden Willow Woman for a captivating journey into the rich cultural heritage of basket making during our Heritage Week celebration! Discover the time-honoured craft that transcends generations and continents, connecting us to our ancestors and cultures around the globe. Learn techniques passed down through centuries.

Through hands-on experience, you’ll not only learn the art of basket making but also gain a deeper understanding of the traditions, stories, and connections that make it an integral part of our shared heritage. And of course there will be the ‘cúpla focail’ and the craic!!

Over the course of the day, you will learn how to weave a round willow basket, suitable for use as a Bread Basket, Bicycle Basket or Fruit Basket. This course is suited to beginners or to those who wish to practice the techniques involved in the round basket. Fun and learning guaranteed in the comfortable setting of St. Josephs Hall, Leitrim Village.

All materials and tools provided and each person will finish a round basket to take home as the group will be small to ensure that everyone gets individual attention and support. Straps included for anyone that wants to weave a bicycle basket.

The course starts at 10am sharp and finishes by 5pm.
